“The Emperor’s New Clothes”

“The Emperor’s New Clothes” is a famous fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen

🌟 Story of The Emperor’s New Clothes

Once upon a time, there was an emperor who loved clothes more than anything else. He spent all his money on fine outfits and cared little about ruling his kingdom.

One day, two clever tricksters arrived, pretending to be weavers. They claimed they could make a magical fabric that was invisible to anyone who was stupid or unfit for their job.

The emperor was fascinated and hired them.

🧵 The Deception

The tricksters set up looms and pretended to work, but in reality, they made nothing at all.

  • Officials sent to check on them saw nothing, but were afraid to admit it.
  • They thought: “If I can’t see it, I must be stupid!”
  • So everyone lied, praising the “beautiful fabric.”

Finally, the emperor himself visited. He also saw nothing—but, not wanting to seem foolish, he pretended to admire the clothes.

👑 The Grand Parade

The “clothes” were “completed,” and the emperor wore them—though he was actually completely naked.

He proudly walked through the city in a grand parade.

  • The crowd admired the invisible clothes, afraid to look foolish.
  • No one dared speak the truth.

👶 The Truth Revealed

Suddenly, a small child cried out:

👉 “But the emperor has no clothes!”

One by one, people began to realize the truth. Soon, the whole crowd whispered and laughed.

The emperor knew they were right—but he continued walking proudly, too embarrassed to stop.

🎯 Moral of the Story

  • People often pretend to agree with others to avoid looking foolish
  • Truth is simple, but courage is needed to speak it
  • Innocence (like a child’s) often sees what others ignore
